Utility Operator - Evening

Areas of Responsibility

The Utility Operator will operate various entry level sawmill equipment and be responsible for completing clean-up of regular assigned areas, such as laying sticks, using a walk behind blowers, handheld air compressor blower wand and manual tool such as a broom and shovel to clean-up loose bark, chips and sawdust in the sawmill and planer mill production areas.

Education & Qualification

• At least 18 years of age
• High School Diploma/Equivalent 
• Manufacturing/warehouse/lumber operations preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to safety.
• Excellent attendance record
• Understand and follow oral or written instructions issued by supervisors
• Able to perform the job with limited supervision
• Use Standard Lockout Procedures when appropriate for machine centers.
• Keep all machines clean of saw dust and other fibers. 

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work and operate in industrial conditions (maybe warm/hot, dust/dirt, noisy, heavy machinery or elevated working surface) with proper safety training.
• Perform tasks such as walking, climbing, or standing for long periods of time
• Able to do the following: bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, climbing, stretch with body, arms, and/or legs.
• Able to lift 50 lbs throughout work shift
• Able to carry 20 lbs. occasionally throughout a 10–12-hour shift. Maximum distance to carry 8 feet throughout the shift.
