Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Engineer to develop all aspects of building design: conceptualize initial structural system, design development, construction drawings and specifications, and construction administration.
  • Work with Structural Technician to develop concise and accurate Revit design models and construction drawings.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers and technicians in the firm to develop building designs.
  • Specific tasks include code analysis and load calculations; computer-based building modeling; piece and system design; plan, section, and detail development.
  • Coordinate technical activities and designs with personnel in other disciplines and departments within the local office and/or other corporate location.
  • Present designs to clients, working within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Assist with other duties assigned by supervisor. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University in Civil or Structural Engineering. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in discipline within the A&E industry
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam and obtained Engineer-in-Training (EIT). Ability to sit for the PE exam in the next 2 years is desired.
  • Experienced with analyses and design of steel, concrete and masonry structures and related elements
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of building concepts and design codes
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA 3D, SAP2000 or other CSI software and RAM Structural or other Bentley software;
  • Experienced in the use of Revit and AutoCAD software.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to produce accurate designs, paying close attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with department personnel and office staff; must possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team to achieve project goals and as an individual to achieve personal goals.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing work for the project; working within a project budget and schedule.  
  • Self-motivated: ability to take the initiative in design and manage project tasks with minimal supervision; a willingness to ask questions when unfamiliar systems are encountered.
