In this role, you will be responsible for commissioning newly install equipment, in New England Air System design/build or plan/spec jobs. As a Startup Technician, you'll play a vital role in ensuring optimal performance of newly installed and existing commercial/industrial HVAC/R systems. You will be responsible for conducting inspections, equipment startup, troubleshooting, and providing factory support functions. Your expertise in HVAC technology and customer-centric approach will be instrumental in delivering unparalleled service to our company and our customers.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment startups, verifying functionality and efficiency, while adhering to company policies, IOMs, and mechanical drawings.
  • Utilize advanced troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and resolve technical issues, minimizing downtime and optimizing system performance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of BMS controllers & BAS, and ability to work with controls contractor.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation to facilitate accurate installation and maintenance procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of HVAC systems to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair Variable Frequency Drives.
  • Provide ongoing support to clients and internal teams, offering expert guidance and assistance to address any concerns or challenges.
  • Collaborate with all trades and contractors to streamline processes.
  • Maintain meticulous records of service activities, including maintenance schedules, equipment specifications, and client communications.
  • Performs assigned system commissioning using New England Air System configuration and commissioning tools.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems. 
  • Performs more sophisticated commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.) and finishes the required commissioning documentation.
  • Documents changes and provides information for as built documentation.
  • Provide on-the-job-training to field service technicians when required.
  • Perform standalone controller programming to achieve sequence of operations detailed by project specifications.
  • Monitor HVAC equipment for proper operation and settings per OEM requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.

Qualifications

  • At least ten years related experience required.
  • VRF experience
  • Vermont Electrical License – Type S or Journeyman
  • Universal EPA
  • VT and/or NH Natural gas certification
  • VT and/or NH LP gas certification
  • NH and/or VT NORA Silver oil certification
  • Valid driver’s license
