About the job

Are you passionate about pushing the boundaries of mechanical design? As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you’ll collaborate with innovative teams and engage directly with clients to craft cutting-edge mechanical system solutions for diverse and exciting design projects. Your mission: enhance the functionality, reduce weight, and optimize critical components for both aircraft and spacecraft, as well as streamline production assembly equipment and systems.

Why We Need This Position

A good idea without a solution is like a plane without wings—it just can’t get off the ground on its own. We don’t just need idea people at Teague. A successful invention marries the vision with the nuts-and-bolts reality. Which is why we need people like you, who spent their childhoods dismantling alarm clocks to see how they worked. See below if this sounds like you.

Who We’re Looking For

You thrive on a good challenge and love getting involved early to shape requirements. Not one to give up easily, you know that with sufficient patience, ingenuity, and motivation, most problems can be solved. You love nothing more than to apply your technical savvy to complex problems and come up with practical, viable approaches and solutions. If it has to do with improving the future travel experience of flight, all the better. Specifically, this means you know how to design and develop mechanical systems that are relevant to aircraft, spacecraft, even train cabin interiors. You may find yourself helping our design teams and clients explore new solutions in every area of aircraft and spacecrafts including the flight deck, main cabin, lavatories, furnishings, structures, systems and the production system. You are familiar with creating concepts from sparse guidelines; experience with DFM and manufacturing engineering, have solid knowledge of machining practices and N/C requirements; have a basic understanding of composites and plastics; look forward to the opportunity to embed technology into your work; know the appropriate use of ANSI drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T); and can work on welded structure design. Mechatronics experience is a bonus. Oh, and your favorite approach to development pairs your hands with your brain; the physical with the digital. In short, you have unparalleled engineering aptitude, technical savvy in multiple domains, a creative outlook, and microscopic attention to detail.

What We Just Said, Now in 5 Bullet Points (a.k.a. Essential Qualifications)

  • Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Physics, or other Engineering field focused on electro-mechanical systems required; minimum of 3-5 years related work experience
  • Special skills: Fluent in using CATIA V5 and/or SolidWorks and common analysis tools (FEA, topology optimization, CFD, and/or kinematics) for daily design activities; experience and proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Passion: Using fundamental engineering skills augmented with technology to find creative solutions
  • Role: Highly motivated problem-solver extraordinaire; the bigger the challenge, the more fun you’re having.
  • Personality: Collaborative, detail-oriented, smart, creative, self-motivated
