NOVA Engineering and Environmental is seeking a Permit Technician in the Forest Park, Georgia area. This is a full-time position with benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k w/ matching) and many more perks. This position serves as key office personnel who interacts with the public, city employees, inspectors, plans examiners and the building official on a daily basis. Customer service, organization, detail oriented and multi-tasking is a must.

Required Skills/Essential Functions:

  • Process permit applications, process payments/fees, FPL meter request, Permit audits, assist building inspectors in their day-to-day duties and perform basic data entry tasks.
  •  Issue construction permits for both residential, new construction and commercial projects. 
  •  Schedule inspections for building code inspectors.
  • Maintain contractor registrations and keep registrations updated
  • Maintain effective customer service relationship with clients and customers to service all their building department needs
  • Establish and maintain systems to ensure that all files, letters, reference manuals, field inspection reports, permit files, blueprints drawings, and other data or material is maintained in an organized fashion.
  • Work with fee details, Excel spreadsheets (tax logs), answer phones, and provide customer service to the public.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.

Minimum Qualifications and Education:

  • Municipal Building permitting is highly preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent education; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Valid State Driver’s license
