At this time, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer/Software Designer to join us. In this role, you’ll work with several of the best-known Fortune 100 companies on innovative technologies and products.

About this Role

As an Electrical Engineer / SW Designer your focus will be collaborating with our team of Internal EE’s developing next generation solutions for the AR/VR, consumer products, Defense, and many other industries.   


You’ll be involved with and leading:

Integrating electronic modules to create rapid designs

Interfacing with and interpreting a variety of sensor packages

Developing board layouts

Developing automated test and validation equipment

Data acquisition including optical benches

Soldering and electrical assemblies 


The work is varied and rarely the same here at Sherpa.  We anticipate more responsibility and advanced duties as you progress within our team.  This position requires you to be in our facility with the lab equipment and fellow colleagues.


Basic Qualifications

Schematics and PCB development

Familiar with designing and building test bench systems for sensor and electronics modules

Strong programming skills (preferably Python and C/C++)

Able to write test system software

Experience designing test fixtures

Enjoy soldering, board assembly, and rework

Possess great troubleshooting skills


Technical Competencies and daily duties

Able to communicate effectively regarding technical topics via conference calls, online meetings, and email communications with our customers

Able to use electrical test and measurement tools effectively (Oscilloscopes scopes, multimeters, signal generators, etc.)

Able to prioritize work and tasks to meet schedule deadlines

Familiar with quoting jobs, outside services vendors for tasks we outsource

Good at hand work and attention to detail

Experienced with PCB layout software, (Altium preferred)

Keep schedules up to date and foresee potential problems to ensure on-time deliveries


Success Indicators

Ability to work collaboratively and deliver winning results in a small team environment with engineers

Self-driven learner able to grasp complex computer/math/software concepts quickly

Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word) needed

Great at working directly with our customers to address needs and issues quickly

Experienced understanding of how electrical design and product development firms operate and their business drivers

Creative and likes to solve challenging problems

Good communication skills, both written and oral

Self-starter who takes initiative and manages their schedule to align with production schedules and department needs

Works well in a team environment and thrive on collaboration

Knowledge seeker looking to expand skillset
