Business Development Lead

Sherpa Design is a team of mechanical and electrical engineers, designers, and machinists who thrive on pushing the envelope and equipping others to do the same. Over the past 20+ years, our platform of capabilities has grown from our core expertise of product engineering to include additive manufacturing, precision machining, NX training, and Teamcenter solutions. At this time, we are looking for an experienced Business Development Lead to join us. In this role, you’ll work with several of the best-known Fortune 100 companies on innovative technologies and products.

About this Role

As a Business Development Lead, you’ll be responsible for prospecting clients who align with our capabilities and business goals, both known and hiding, coordinating outbound technical messaging via LinkedIn/Web/YouTube/Instagram, and nurturing conversations with new prospects.


You will work closely with our VP of Business Development and our technical teams. Your skills in identifying the right-fit clients/companies and helping to nurture their understanding of all our capabilities and technical offerings is how our collaborations can start. Understanding how products are designed, manufactured, and managed through their lifecycle will help in your success.


You should have the ability to develop an outbound marketing cadence, gather needed content (photos, content from engineers), work with our Marketing Director to polish or craft messaging, ensure it goes out, and follow-up with interested partners via phone, email, and in-person conversations. Occasional travel to networking events, associations, conferences and events.


A curiosity or fascination of technical things (3D Printing, modern manufacturing, engineering, product design) and a drive to help our clients reach their goals are core to the ideal candidate.  


Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in Technical Services/Consulting
  • Salesforce and HubSpot experience
  • Familiarity with B2B sales, prospecting on LinkedIn, the ability to identify and target right-fit prospects, nurture relationships through questions and conversations.
  • Comfortable reaching out to prospects and having conversations about how our offerings can help an organization.
  • Able to engage and extend your network in making introductions to the right people.
  • Enjoys a variety of challenges and opportunities to grow your technical sales skills.


Technical Competencies

  • Able to create and present PowerPoint presentations that speak to our company’s ability.·       
  • Good writing skills: able to pull relevant technical details from team and translate to a story to tell.
  • Enjoy learning about emerging technologies and the companies driving them and a drive to connect with them.


Success Indicators

  • Effective professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with B2B Sales process and strategies
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Experience with professional services, contract manufacturing, and project-based work highly desired         
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring when needed    
  • 3-5 years’ experience at a recruiting firm a plus         
  • Skilled networker and ability to navigate an org chart to find the right contacts in a company     
  • Interested in and connected to our work    
  • Able to identify good stories to educate and start conversations     
  • Some experience with photography and videography  
  • Proven ability to engage with aligned clients on relevant social platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram) 


Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time exempt position. Salary range $60,000 - $100,000 depending on experience and attainment of sales goals. In addition, Sherpa offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
